Kashmir is a state of India. It is the northern most state of India and it is bordered by Pakistan. It is known for its stunning landscapes of snow capped mountains and beautiful valleys and plains. If you are considering visiting Kashmir on vacation, there are multiple ways to get into Kashmir. Here is a look at the ways to travel into Kashmir and once you get there some of the most popular forms of transportation around Kashmir.

There are half a dozen ways to get into the state of Kashmir. The first and most direct way is to fly. There are flights that fly directly into the cities of Sringar and Leh that will get you into the state of Kashmir. These flights are operated under the airlines Jet Airways, Indian Airlines and Air Deccan.

The second way to get into Kashmir is via train. The Kashmir Railways is a railway that designed exclusively to get Kashmir connected with the rest of the country of India. So you could fly into another section of India and take a train into Kashmir if you so choose.

The last way to get into Kashmir is via roadways. Travelers can either choose to take a taxi cab into Kashmir or to take a bus service. Many taxis and bus services will make a stop into the cities of Sringar and Leh, which will allow you to transfer from one bus to another local bus service that will take you around Kashmir.

Once inside Kashmir you will need to know how to travel around the state. There are two types of transportation that are commonly used in the Kashmir area. The first is the public bus service which has a route that goes all around the state of Kashmir. The second is a 4 wheel jeep. Jeeps allow travelers to get to areas not serviced by buses and can be rented privately or you can hire someone to drive you around.
